3D Concrete Printing (3DCP) is an innovative construction process for fabricating concrete components employing an additive, layer-based manufacturing technique. This presentation will provide the state-of-the-art 3DCP technology, as well as current major research and industry projects. The presentation will also discuss where this emerging innovation is likely to move forward to realise its potential to transform our construction industry.

BIO

Dr Behzad Nematollahi is an Associate Professor in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering at the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor in Australia. In 2018, he was awarded the prestigious Australia Research Council DECRA Fellowship to lead his research on the development of 3D-printable high-performance fibre-reinforced low-carbon concretes.

Dr Nematollahi has been consistently recognised among the World’s Top 2% of Scientists from 2020 to 2025 in the annual database published by Stanford University and Elsevier. He has more than 15 years of research experience in 3D Concrete Printing technologies, and development of sustainable and resilient concrete materials and structures across multiple length scales — from nanometre-scale material design to metre-scale structural performance.
