The team, one of two representing Engineering, was made up of students from Civil, Mechanical, and Computer Engineering, demonstrating the power of unity across disciplines. They took the title through hard work, teamwork, and resilience. Starting with 12 teams in total, they advanced to the final three competing for the Tournament Cup and emerged the victors.

CivMin’s two student teammates, Freddy Fisher (Year 3 CivE) and Azizkhon Yussupov (Year 4 CivE), are thrilled with their team’s success. “Basketball has become more than just a sport for me—it’s a way to stay active, build friendships, and challenge myself. I first joined the intramural team during my third year, but despite our efforts, we didn’t win that season,” says Yussupov, reflecting on the journey to victory. “This year, however, with a mix of returning and new players, we were able to build great team chemistry and secure the victory in the finals.”

When the pressure’s on, we rise to the occasion.

Their success in the championship was a true testament to perseverance and collaboration. “Champions are made in the clutch—when the pressure’s on, we rise to the occasion,” Yussupov added, capturing the essence of their achievement and ability to perform together.
