Structural Engineering

Structural Engineering

Structural engineers are responsible for engineering design and structural analysis, with practitioners most often specializing in a particular area of structures such as bridge or building engineering, or mega-urban and/or industrial structures. In the Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering, research investigation in structural engineering is more broadly encompassed under seven key sub-categories: assessment and rehabilitation, bridge design, concrete structures, infrastructure and critical infrastructure resilience, seismic resilience, steel structures, structural dynamics and earthquake engineering, and timber structures.
