Workshop Description
Partnership with Department of Spanish & Portuguese, Centre for Caribbean Studies and University of Toronto Students’ Union. Latin American students attend and discuss issues first highlighted in the report “X Marks the Spot: Reflecting on the LatinX Student Experience at U of T”, including self-identifying as LatinX, finding a cultural community, the role of language in building individual and group identities, and work / class / income. Join the report’s Co-authors: Dr. Berenice Villagómez, Undergraduate & Communications and Community Outreach Coordinator, Department of Spanish & Portuguese, and Eva Grace and Ana Rodriguez, U of T alumnae Double Majors in Latin American Studies; and Latin American peers, Mentor Navigators, and club leaders to share perspectives, experiences and support around belonging. This online workshop will include a presentation, breakout rooms and a panel Q&A.
