Murty Devata’s Graduate Scholarship 

Established in 2023 by family, friends, and colleagues of late Murty Devata, the scholarship will be awarded to a geotechnical/geo-environmental graduate student from one of the following universities: Toronto Metropolitan University, University of Toronto, University of Waterloo, Western University, McMaster University, and York University.  

Value 

One award of $2,000 (subject to change) and non-renewable 

Eligibility: 

• Full-time graduate student of one of six eligible universities. The student shall be enrolled or accepted to a graduate program at the time of application. 
• Areas of study/research must be in the field of geotechnical/geomechanical/geoenvironmental engineering.
• Continuing graduate students must demonstrate a high level of research and academic performance and good communication skills as demonstrated through participation in teaching, presentations (conferences/seminars), or the publishing of research papers. 
• Exemplary character demonstrated by voluntary service in general, or in support of inclusive diversity
