Industry Talk | Eric Strom – New Gold Inc. Director, Underground Mining

Since graduating from Queen’s University in 1995, Eric has worked at several underground mines in Canada and Australia with Placer Dome, Goldcorp and New Gold Inc. In 2009 he headed up the technical and project teams at New Afton.  In 2012 he moved to Northparkes Mines Australia as Manager Mining, and currently Eric is Director Underground Mining for New Gold Inc.

Eric has worked in underground gold and copper mines, across a wide span of mining methods and technologies. As Manager of the mining department at Northparkes Mines Eric lead the implementation of automated loaders, creating the most automated underground mine in the world.
