Third place showing in U of T Big Data AI Case Competition

The team of Renzo Benavides (MIE Meng 2T2), Katia Ossetchkina (CivE 1T8 + PEY, MASc candidate), Nirmal Pol (BME 2T1, MEng 2T2, Phd candidate)  and William Hazen (MIE MEng candidate) placed third (out of 51 teams!) at the University of Toronto Big Data AI Case Competition, sponsored by Scotiabank.

“I want to thank my wonderful and collaborative team-mates for the past four months – it has truly been a pleasure working with you and collectively learning about applying AI and machine learning techniques for anti-money laundering,” expresses CivMin’s Ossetchkina.

“A huge thank you to the Institute for Management & Innovation (IMI) UTM for hosting this event and Scotiabank for sponsoring – events like these are important opportunities for students to be exposed to real world data and get valuable industry feedback to bridge the gap between theory and practice.”
