The Centre for the Sustainable Built Environment and the School of Cities recently hosted the Embodied GHG Symposium with over 200 attendees including industry professionals, academics and policy-makers. This year’s symposium explored solutions to building more housing and infrastructure to keep pace with population growth in Canada with less greenhouse gas (GHG) pollution.
The gathering was held May 13 at the Rotman School of Management. The event began with welcoming remarks from Professor Marianne Hatzopoulou, Chair of the Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering, and with CivMin’s Professor Shoshanna Saxe Director of the Sustainable Urban Infrastructure and the symposium chair.
The Sustainable Built Environment team, including Professors Evan Bentz, Daman Panesar, Heather MacLean, and Daniel Posen, along with event participants and joining CivMin professors Tamer El-Diraby, Aryan Rezaei Rad, and Marianne Touchie, discussed the imperative of sustainable construction practices.
PhD Candidate Keagan Ranking presented research on how Canada can meet both our housing and climate targets.
